What does the visa procedure look like?

When it comes to working on a river ship, one of the most common questions is what the entire procedure for obtaining a work visa looks like. First of all, it is very important to point out that a visa is not needed for the candidates who come from a country that is a member of the European Union.

For the crew members that are not holders of an EU passport, the procedure, with the assistance of Feron agency, in most cases, looks like as follows:
After you have successfully passed an interview with a certain company and accepted the job offer presented to you, you enter the visa procedure. Information on the necessary documentation can be found here.

Feron agency receives documents from the company for each candidate in order to check if they are correct. After that, the Feron agency forwards via email the documentation to each candidate with instructions for filling it out. By telephone, we arrange with you the date of your arrival at our office for the purpose of handing over the filled documentation.
At the agreed time and date, you submit the documents to our agency and we check whether they are filled in correctly and in accordance with the embassy’s requirements.

The prepared documentation is submitted by the Feron Agency to the Visa Center, after which each candidate leaves their biometric data in the time allotted by the Visa Center.

When the visa is ready, the Feron agency collects the passport from the visa center and informs the company and the candidates. At that moment, every candidate is free to pick up their passport from our agency from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

It is not possible to give a precise answer to the question „How long does it take to get a visa“, because the processing of the request depends exclusively on the competent consulate and the authorities with which it cooperates in the process. It is important to know that from the moment applications are submitted to the visa center, Agency Feron has no direct or indirect influence on how long the process of someone’s application will take.

What we can say, based on our experience so far, is that the waiting period may be shorter for some, and longer for others, and that the date of the application itself may not be relevant in terms of the order of issuing someone’s visa. Statistically speaking, most requests are successfully approved without the need to delay the start of the contract or cancel it.
