Why did you first apply for a job on a ship?
I was attracted by good earnings, visiting different destinations, and gaining both professional and life experience.
What was the most difficult thing for you when you started working on a ship?
Separation from family and friends, sharing a cabin with a total stranger, strict discipline, and many rules must be strictly followed.
What are the advantages of working on a river ship?
Wherever you are, you are not far from home. Working hours are regulated, and you have the right to one or two vacations during the contract and 1 or 2 days off per week. If the company has a Swiss contract, and most of them do, all contributions are paid.
What challenges did you face on a daily basis?
Our task is to meet the expectations of our guests. I can say that it is the biggest challenge because life on a ship involves a series of circumstances that are impossible to predict.
What advice would you give to the people who go on a ship for the first time?
Working on a ship is definitely a good experience. One should prepare for work, order, and discipline. As someone who has been on ships for over 10 years, I can say that the most important thing is to organize your time well and listen to your superiors without question when completing tasks.
