WHAT CONTRACTS ARE AVAILABLE ON RIVERBOATS AND IS THERE A POSSIBILITY TO RENEW THE CONTRACT IN THE NEXT SEASONS?

What types of contracts are there if you apply for a job on a riverboat?
You may have heard of Swiss, Cypriot, Portuguese, or some other type of contract. What exactly does that mean?

Contracts for a job on riverboats are given “names” according to the location of the headquarters of the company you would work for, and consequently the benefits and working conditions.
When it comes to Swiss-type of contracts, for example, the company is situated in Switzerland, where you are also paid contributions. The same applies to the Cypriot, Portuguese, or other contracts.
If you apply for work on a riverboat through the Feron agency, our recruiters will provide you with all important information, including the type of contract the company will provide you and the benefits and conditions that come with it.

Candidates are also frequently curious about the possibility of returning to the boat the following season.
The answer to this question is, of course, yes.

As with any other job, whether you will extend/renew your contract is primarily up to you and how you perform. If your work is at a satisfactory level, we assume that the company will be very happy to hire you again next season.

In our practice, we have countless candidates who have worked on riverboats for multiple seasons, some for more than 10. These candidates view work on the boat as a “permanent” job and “regular” source of income, rather than seasonal work and the chance to make more money than usual in a shorter period of time.

It is also important to emphasize that skipping a season doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be able to return to the boat after that. It’s all a matter of agreement with the company, and it’s up to you to decide in which direction your career will go.
